TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE MUMBAI & MAHARASHTRA:

Dear Sirs,

This is to bring to the attention of all Members in Mumbai & Maharashtra that the Government of Maharashtra, vide GR 35 dated 17/03/2022 has amended the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2017.

As per the Amendment, the Name Boards of every Establishment Registered under Section 6, or of every Establishment to which Section 7 applies, shall be in Marathi Language, in Devnagari Script. The Name in Marathi Language shall essentially be written in the beginning on the Name Board and the font size of the letters in Marathi Language shall not be smaller than the font size of the letters in any other Language. (A Copy of GR 35 dated 17^th March 2022is enclosed herewith for your ready reference.)

Subsequently, the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (BMC) has issued a Notice No 397 dated 10^th May 2022 stating that as per GR 35 dated 17^th March 2022, all the Shops and Establishments under its Jurisdiction should Display the Name Boards in Marathi Language, in Devnagari Script, by 31^st May 2022. (Copy of Said Notice 397 dated 10^th May 2022, is also enclosed herewith for your ready reference)

All Members are requested to take note of the same and ensure that the necessary changes are made by 31^st May 2022.
